Cosmetic Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Facial Rejuvenation

                                       and Hair Loss

An all-natural fountain of youth, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

You can embrace the aging process gracefully and still have a healthy and youthful-looking appearance. To do this, you don’t have to look further than your own body for a natural fountain of youth.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is an extract of your own blood that contains three to five times more platelets, growth factors, and active proteins for tissue and injury healing. It has been used medically for years to accelerate wound healing, ligament and joint damage, repair tendon, help regrow muscle and bone, and  heal diabetic ulcers.

Cosmetic Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial Rejuvenation is a leading-edge procedure that harnesses the healing power of platelets and growth factors from your blood to stimulate a stem cell response. These stem cells help you to grow new blood vessels and collagen, regenerate and repair damaged skin, and help slow and reverse the signs of aging.

When PRP is placed back into the skin by injection or micro-needling, it initiates a localized stem cell response. Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process by producing new collagen and elastin, giving your skin refreshed and rejuvenated look.

Is Cosmetic PRP Right for You?

Cosmetic wants and needs are unique to every woman/man and should be addressed individually. Often, women/men are looking for a refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful appearance without looking frozen or over-plumped, without aggressive surgery. This can be done with the right combination of proper diet and lifestyle, skincare products and carefully chosen cosmetic procedures.

Some age-related concerns respond better to Cosmetic PRP, while others respond better to hyaluronic acid fillers, toxins, peels or laser resurfacing techniques. The effects of all these treatments are enhanced by using them together, in the right way. Women and men of all ages can benefit from Cosmetic PRP.

There is exciting potential for the use of PRP in regenerative, anti-aging and cosmetic medicine. It is a safe, effective and natural way of harnessing the healing power of your own blood to help reverse the signs of aging. As part of an integrated approach to skincare that addresses both internal and external factors, Cosmetic PRP can be your natural fountain of youth.

The Cosmetic Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Procedure

Prior to the Cosmetic PRP procedure, a consultation is done to assess cosmetic needs and determine the best combination of treatments to you in order to achieve the desired result.

A simple blood collection (8ml) is done and processed immediately in a special centrifuge. This process concentrates and separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood. After cleaning the area being treated, the PRP is injected to the skin using a micro-needling device (mesogun) or regular needles. Proper after-care and follow-up is done as a part of all treatments.

What are the most common problems treated with Platelet Rich Plasma?

As we age, most of us experience a loss of volume and skin integrity that results in common cosmetic complaints like: frown lines, lip lines, crow’s feet, depressions around the nose and mouth, sagging around the jaw line.
The natural aging process can be accelerated by genetics, facial expressions and extrinsic factors like smoking, sun exposure, and a poor diet. These all cause oxidative stress,a key component of the aging process, that appears as hyperpigmentation, unevenness of skin tone, sagging skin, fine lines, and advanced wrinkling.
The potential benefits of PRP have led to a recent widespread interest in its use for anti-aging and regenerative purposes. The healing properties of the blood components in PRP can be used as a cosmetic treatment for the following:

  • Tightening and toning skin
  • Mild collagen and volume loss
  • Dark under eye circles
  • Reducing fine lines and wrinkles
  • Rosacea
  • Acne scarring

PRP can be used for localized injections on the face (nasolabial folds, dark rings, cheeks & jaws, peri-orbital areas, crow’s-feet area, fine wrinkles in upper lips zone (smoker wrinkles), nose & forehead wrinkles), neck (venus circle) and decollete (crease-marks skin), back of the hands and scalp.

How long does the procedure take?

After the consultation, the procedure  takes 30-45 minutes.

How long will it take before my results are fully visible?

Within a few weeks of treatment, an overall improvement in skin hydration, texture and tone can be seen. New blood vessels and collagen begin to grow after three to six weeks, and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and volume correction happens over the next six months.

Patients usually require 3-4 treatments, done 4-6 weeks apart.

The effects of Cosmetic PRP can last 12-18 months, depending on the individual. While it creates a longer-lasting effect in the skin, it does take time to work.

Maintenance treatments are required, every 12-18 months.

Are there side effects to the treatment?

Cosmetic PRP is a simple and safe procedure.
Because PRP is extracted from your own blood, there is no risk of disease transmission, immune or allergic reaction.
The most common side effects are mild and may include:
•    Minor swelling
•    Minor itching/irritation
•    Redness
•    Tightness
•    Very rare bruising (Individuals who take blood thinning painkillers such as NSAIDs or aspirin may experience more bruising and swelling than average)

Will there be any downtime after treatment?

•   Most people find that they can return to work or go about their normal daily activities immediately after treatment with the exception of strenuous exercise.
•   Stay out of the heat and sun after you are treated with PRP during this initial 24 hour recovery period.
•   Avoid alcohol during this initial 24 hour recovery period.
•   Avoid antihistamines during this initial 24 hour recovery period
•   Avoid blood thinning painkillers such as NSAIDs or aspirin during this initial 24 hour recovery period.
•   Avoid Arnica gel during this initial 24 hour recovery period.
•   Do not apply ice over treated area.
•   Don’t wash the treated areas in the next 4 hours.
•   If any bruising occurs, this can be covered up with makeup (only mineral make up should be used if applied less than 24 h after the treatment).

Who should not have Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is not for everyone.

As with all cosmetic procedures, however, there are certain health conditions,  that may limit its use.
•    Injections should be avoided in areas where infections are present or the skin is swollen – e.g. active acne, cold sores. This will reduce the risk of infection at the injection site after the treatment.
•   Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has not been tested in pregnant women, so its use would normally be not advised by practitioners if you are pregnant.
•    If you are breastfeeding you should not have Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)treatment
•    If you have certain health conditions, such as autoimmune, blood disorders, and cancer, you should not have Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment.

Hair loss

Today many men and women face the problem of hair loss and hair thinning . This has lead them to try many treatment options. PRP is a newer form of treatment that is showing promising results. It can be used in conjunction with hair transplant or as an independent treatment.

It may require multiple sessions which vary from person to person. The hair grows slowly but the results are positive and it has received patient’s satisfaction.
